North Central Washington Heritage is a project of Washington Rural Heritage, a collection of historically significant materials residing in libraries, heritage institutions, and private collections throughout Washington State. The collection includes photographs, documents, and artifacts which tell the stories of Washington's small and rural communities.
Foodways and Byways of North Central Washington documents the story of food harvest, processing and distribution throughout Washington State’s Okanogan, Ferry, Chelan, Douglas, and Grant Counties. The collection is a project of the North Central Regional Library in partnership with the Initiative for Rural Innovation and Stewardship (IRIS), funded by a grant from the Washington State Library.
Gathering Our Voice is a program of the Initiative for Rural Innovation & Stewardship (IRIS) that aims to inform and inspire our future by sharing success stories from individuals, families and organizations that can help North Central Washington grow as a region. IRIS works with museums and other organizations to gather and archive recorded interviews and historic photos and to share them through digital and print media. See www.gatheringourvoice.org for more information.

Founded in 2002, the Initiative for Rural Innovation & Stewardship (IRIS) fosters sustainable rural communities by connecting people, place and possibility. We strive to build a community in which all voices can be heard and all contributions to lasting stewardship are honored. We see a vibrant community that appreciates the connections between the past, present and future and that innovates and adapts to change. Gathering, preserving and creating stories is central to the IRIS approach and is used as a community-building strategy across all IRIS programs and activities.
The North Central Regional Library is based in Wenatchee and operates 28 branches throughout Grant, Douglas, Chelan, Okanogan, and Ferry counties. Its mission is to promote reading and lifelong learning.
