About This Collection

Stevens County Heritage Collection

The items in the Stevens County Heritage Collection are products of an initiative of the Libraries of Stevens County and the Heritage Network to collect and preserve our region’s unique history. All of the items in the collection were submitted to the library for digital preservation and retained by their owners in their original condition. The Stevens County Collection contains images from the 1880s to the present that depict the region’s people and communities.

Kettle Falls Collection

The Kettle Falls Public Library houses a collection of over 800 photographs and family histories chronicling the early history of this community. The town of Kettle Falls, incorporated in 1892, was originally located near the confluence of the Colville and Columbia Rivers in Northeastern Washington. Kettle Falls was relocated and merged with the town of Meyers Falls when the Grand Coulee Dam was built and Lake Roosevelt formed in 1941. The items in the Kettle Falls Heritage Collection focus on the early history of Kettle Falls and its surrounding area, as well as the time period surrounding its relocation. The collection was formed by compiling generous donations of community members and includes maps, photographs, and family histories.
