Those who went up on No, 16 mlss2d four inuiugs of the game, but then they were informed that there iad been very little doinu in the way ot making scores. Up to that time IIO 8pragi)ite bad pased first. The visitors settled themselves down to wait for something to happen. They did not have to wait long for when Hitz'. ille went to bat iu their halt of the flftb, they had blood in tbelr «yea. •
Eckart got to first all right, so did Hansen, sending Edtert to second. T'bings happned so fast then that it was hard to keep track of all. Any¬ way when the last man went out flansen. Woods, and Murry bad crossed the homo plate.
Sprague, sicl< at heart, went to bat only to retire with the usual result.
Ritzville in their half ot the sixth scored twice, Hansen and Steele being tbe lucky boys. .After tbis no scores were made although Kitzville came very near being successful.
Sprague, poor Sprague, succeded in getting to second once only they never did see the home plate.
They are a bunch of good fellows though and will try their luck here Thursday and Sunday.
Tbe recent rains bad made the dimond so muddy that tbe players were almost afraid
who caves for eaou little sparrow that falls.

Liocoln County Pioneer Picnic
.^re you planning to attend the fifth annual picuic of the Lincoln County Pioneer and Historical association June 18 to '20t
The appropriation this year for purses aud prizes is over SliOII, or to be exact, 81,lG-2 50. Everything is going to be bigger aud better for the reason that tbe association bas learned that it is uecesaary to in¬ crease the atlractious to beep abreast with the increased attendance.
A grandstand, which has always been needed so badly, is now assured for this year, and you will be sure of having a comfortable place to sit while watching the races, ball ^auies and other sports.
The three days' relay race will be a feature again this year, Tbis was the most interesting feature last year and the entries this year will doubt¬ less be greater. Two conlesiaots from Harrington, Joe Pickell. winner of last year's race iu a sensational finish, and "Sleepy" Armstrong, who it is said will make Fickell "no some" have already entered. The purse will in ail probability be the same as last year, £75 to tbe winner and S'25 second.
A new feature added tbia year is a flat footcid half mile walk, will be somuthing the pioneers will] enjoy and in which they can partici¬ pate with a vim, proving their claims of conquests won iu this way in years gone by.
Base ball will be a feature each day and a game will be arranged if possible between the old time rivals, Ritzville and Sprague, Daven¬ port, Reardan, Edwal! and Harrington will also be represented on the diamond, and tbe Odessa juniors will meet any team in their class.
Programs will bo printed soon, and for particulars concerning any event write Jim (Joodwin, assistant secretary, Harrington, Wash.
e notice in the Postmaster Uen- rei^^^'a report a suggestion that people wrming letters should sign their full uartiies aud addresses to their letters, audj there would never be a letter but whfot could be returned if it failed to reaiiii the pofson it was intended for. Th^C report suggests a better way than tbi^it too, but one whicb is a little moPre expensive. That is to have a smfcll card printed on the corner of thel envelope. This will cost only a trifle, and if tbe letter caniiot be deijlvered to the address, or tbe ad<ijlreas should be wrong the letter wo lid come back in the course of five to seven days, instead of going thr ough the dead letter office, and finally being returned to the writer aftfcr a lapse of two weeks or more, Tb^ latter suggestion is much the I be*t, aud can be adopted at a vSry sm^ll expense.
The citizens of Ritzville deserve credit for the prido they take in tbe city schools. We venture the asser¬ tion that not a student ever weut lorth from our city, hut went away witu the best wishes of the people; they gave hitti encouragement duriiitJ school life and when he departed took himby the hand and said "God speed thee," >Jot one who bas linished the course in the Ritzville schools, wherever he may now be, but wishes the town and people well, tor it was among them, suriounded by an in¬ fluence that was elevating and uobte, animated by their splendid example that ho received the foundation whicb n:Bkes him today the upright young man in auy community in whicb ho may live.
l''or tho past week the people ot Kitzville have had plenty of oppor¬ tunity to show their loyalty to tbe schools. -Almost every night enter¬ tainments have been given by the various classes of both schools.
h'irst came the "Three ISeaia" by Miss Uimmelberger's scholars. The show was very entertaining, especially so to the young folks.

On Thursaay evening tbe pupils of Miss Donald's room gave "Aladdin," a Japanese play. There were about thirty Hvo in the .oast and these, robed in Japanese costijimes, formed a very pretty scene. The children proved themselves real actors and were liber¬ ally applauded by the large audience. A vocal solo by Miss Viola Wagner, cornet solo by Master Davenny and the numbers by the orchestra added greatly to the evening's entertain¬ ment.
