NOBLE NEWS
March 18, 1971
The NOBLE NEWS is planned to be an
occasional publication of NOBLE. It is
hoped that issues can be published at
lease twice a year.
We invite comments and suggestions
also any contributions of community news.
No one is truly literate who
cannot read his own heart...
COTTAGE INDUSTRIES
Residents of North Bonneville are en-
couraged to get in touch with your local
0E0 representative and work with them on
their new program of Cottage Production
through the home. Henry Stephens and his
staff are to be commended for writing a
project such as this and offering ser-
vices to get such a project off the
ground.
Cottage industries are a very common
thing throughout the Orient and Europe.
Once initiated and activated, families
can supplement their income as well as
make a contribution to their community
growth.
NOBLE, standing for NOrth Bonnevflle
Life Effort, was born when a group of
concerned citizens decided it was time
to do something about the conditions
existing in North Bonneville. They meet
once a month and the date is usually
posted in the Post Office.
Membership is open to everyone with
no dues. The only qualification -- AN
INTEREST IN YOUR COMMUNITY.
NOBLE Officers: Chairman-R. L. Led-
better, Co-Chairman - Elmo Emerson,Sec-
retary - Jeannie Cummings, Treasurer -
Carolee Ledbetter.
The Bureau of Community Development
from the University of Washington works
with NOBLE. When a community development
program is undertaken, the Bureau teaches
the participants the necessary steps for
accomplishment. It also helps design
surveys, assists in obtaining resource
persons and provides guidance for com-
piling committee reports. Consultants
attend meetings to help with organiza-
tional procedures and group processes.
In keeping with the educational and
self-help concept of community develop-
ment, the responsibility for t.he program
lies with the community.
CORRECTION: If you find a mistake in this newsletter,
please consider it was put there for a purpose. We
publish something for everyone and some people are
always looking for mistakes.
