Oct. 1933. 4 business establishments. Pat Malone, Moody Real instate Co., Kate
in the sandwich and coffee business, and post office at Moffet Hot Springs operated
by Marie . 5fos-ck
Pat Malone runs combination grocer, meat, bus parlor, gambling, resturant on old
Tol property. The first real character, Bonneville Lou, famous for hard boiled
and expert use of knives used on her husband. Bonneville Lou later became
in in Roosevelt bar because quite artist at getting men drunk and
stealing pocket books in 1935- Lived with 3 or 4 different men caused fights and ^
drunken parties. Pat Malone finally organized Chamber of Commerce cf this district.
He was first to propose to the Chamber to circulate a contract signed by business
men of town where by they was to pay 2.00 per man for police protection to the
Deputy Sheriff C; E. McCurdy. Slv-?-:-V ?>.■&:<?* andS^^c^y assisted as the town
became larger to enforce law.
Pat Malone finally turned out to be quite a gangster. He was first party to
introduce the T,'.'• gambling syndicate into , and fcbpaxsi
the construction of the first gambling den in North Bonneville. The gambling
license was not allowed to causing the syndicate to lose #1800.00
which had been put in the building. Pat Malone's career ended in the month of July
in what was known as Pats Dam Cafe. X
The next notorious place was known as The Silver Moon by Jack Kovas' located on
Roosevelt Avenue near the Depot. He eventually broke family ties and after many
drunken b left with another woman. and card room.
The next character of ability appeared on the scene, Blacky, who runs =. fire
wagen and was a professional gambler . Run out of town by vigilante
committee in 1935. (T'Assl j ^r/-, Adams v.-as appointed in 1934 by sheriff as deputy
under McCurdy. McCurdy refused to vvork with him and he was discharged in 1935.
Later he was arrested by HcCurdy while trying to frame McCurdy in a woman known as
Mrs. Guss Johnson. Adams provoked fight and was put in jail, preferred charges.
